Many people have transported rice to automatic rice distribution machines in Hanoi to help low-income people amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rice dispensers are located in Nghia Tan Ward, Cau Giay District and Vo Quy Huan Street in Bac Tu Liem District’s Phuc Dien Ward.

The so-called rice ATMs dispense 3 kilos of rice per person for free.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Quan, a member of the project, the two rice dispensers were launched from learning about the idea of a rice distributing machine to help needy people affected by Covid-19 in HCM City. The rice ATM in Nghia Tan Ward has received more than 20 tonnes of rice donated by many people. Some donors even hired trucks to transport rice to the site.

A donor transported rice to the rice ATM on Vo Quy Huan Street.

Around 10 tonnes of rice prepared to assist the needy.

People who come to take rice need to conform to Covid-19 prevention regulations such as wearing masks and ensuring the minimum distance of at least two metres apart from one another.

Despite the rain, many people still used the machines.

Nguyen Thi Lan, a local resident in Bac Tu Liem, expressed her deep thanks to donors for the support.
