Phu Yen mother seeks help to support small children
A mother in Phu Yen Province is in need of financial help to buy food for her two children after leaving her abusive husband.
One time, her husband hit her again when she gave birth just two months earlier and was still weak, she ran away from home with the children during a rainstorm and caught tuberculosis. Even though she had been treated, Kieu still has coughs frequently and a dull pain in the chest.
"I went to my mother house when I was due. When my child was two months old, we returned to my husband. And just one day later, he threatened and chased us," she said. "Thanks to everyone's help that we survived that time."
Since then, she has worked hard to support her children. Because they can't work and lack money to buy enough rice, their breakfast is only cassava.
Kieu said, "My daughter loves school. Right now, we are living very frugally in order to let her go to school. But I'm afraid that I may not be able to support her when she grows up. Without knowledge, her life can't get better."
Nguyen Duc Vu, vice chairman of Hoa Dong Commune People's Committee, confirmed that Kieu's family is one of the difficult cases in the area.
"The single mother struggles to support two children with unstable jobs. I hope they will get help from the community to raise the children," he said.
