Man calls for help from jaw disease
A woman in Thanh Hoa Province is seeking financial support to help cover medical treatment for her husband.
In recent check-up, he was advised to have another operation as soon as possible. His operation costs estimated VND60m (USD2,600) but his family doesn't have anything valuable anymore. They had borrowed everywhere they could for the previous operations and incurred a huge debt.
"My daughter asked to drop out of school to find jobs when she saw us struggling," Hoe said.
His wife's health is not good and is given VND400,000 (USD17) monthly allowance for a disabled person but it was not enough for their daily expenses.
"In 2011, my parents-in-law borrowed VND8m (USD344) to build this house and we still can't pay that debt yet. We are having to pay VND230,000 of interest each month," said Nguyen Thi Luan, Hoe's wife. "His pain has worsened recent months. Pus oozing out and he can't eat anything. I'm afraid that he may die."
Luan said for some unknown reason, their family suddenly is no longer in the list of poor households this year so they are not given any support in paying electricity or school tuition or health insurance.
"When he felt better, he would work as a bricklayer for some money. They felt for our situation so they gave him the job because he couldn't do much at all," Luan said.
