Grandmother seeks help to raise small grandson
An elderly woman in Bac Lieu Province is calling for financial help to support her small grandson whose parents left him.
According to Tau, her husband died many years ago. Her daughter got married twice and had a son. However, she left them long ago and hasn't contacted Tau. Tau's daily meals only consist of rice and some fish.
"It’s thanks to the neighbours that we can have such a meal. Sometimes, other people gave us milk, making Hao really happy. He would cry when there was no milk but I couldn't do anything about it. Our lives depend on the kindness of our neighbours," Tau said. "This house feels like it can collapse at any time."
Tran Van May, vice chairman of Hung Thanh Commune, confirmed that Tau is one of the poor cases in the area, but the local authorities can only help them so much.
"I hope they will receive more help from kind people," he said.
Tau said her only worry is her grandson. "What will happen to him if I die?" she said.
