Mother calls for help for cerebral palsy children
A woman in Thai Nguyen Province is calling for financial support to cover hospital fees for her two sons who are both struggling with cerebral palsy.
"We were provided meals but my children kept crying. They couldn't eat. It really hurt me," Ha said.
According to Ha, Diep was born at 34 weeks old. Diep was choked on faeces in the mother's womb and was treated for two months at Thai Nguyen Hosptial. At five months old, Diep often cried and couldn't turn her body so she was brought to the National Children's Hospital and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
When Ha gave birth to the second child, Diep's treatment was halted because there was no one to look after her at the hospital. Unfortunately, Ha's second child also has cerebral palsy.
Ha had to borrow money to pay for the children's treatment. The lenders at the black market didn't want to lend them money since there's little chance that they can repay the debts. In the end, Ha decided to let the children stay home.
Recently, Ha's children often suffer from seizures. Ha continued to borrow more money to treat her children in Hanoi but it was not enough.
Dr Phung Anh Tuan from Central Acupuncture Hospital said, "The children have got much better. They need long-term treatment but their family is in too much difficulty. We really hope that they will get help.
