Quynh was diagnosed with kidney failure in late 2018.

When being in the seventh month of the pregnancy, to ensure the safety for both Quynh and her child, doctors had to conduct a caesarean. The baby was born weighing just one kilo and had to be taken care of in an incubator.

Since then, Quynh’s 20-month-old son Truong Hoang Phuc has been mostly taken care of by her mother Nguyen Thi Mau, without being given breast milk.

Since Quynh was ill, her husband has had to frequently take time off from work, affecting the family’s income. The couple have attempted to get loans from different sources to cover Quynh’s treatment. Luckily, since June, Quynh has had health insurance card, which has helped to cover her treatment fees.

Dr Huynh Thi Kim Dung from Hospital 199 said that kidney transplant is the best option for Quynh, but her family can’t afford it. She hopes that donors can assist her.
