Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament launched
The Swing for the Kids 2020 charity golf tournament was officially launched on October 22 to raise funds for disadvantaged students.
Le Trong Minh, editor-in-chief of Investment Newspaper and head of the organising board said, "After 13 years, Swing for the Kids has become a popular tournament where generous people have gathered to help thousands of students with disadvantaged backgrounds, especially students from ethnic groups in mountainous areas. The tournament also helps upgrade the facilities and improve the educational environment at many facilities."
At the press conference, the organisers gave two scholarships that worth VND10m (USD430) each to Do Thi Tham, a student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, and Nguyen Le Huong from Hanoi University of Education. Five scholarships worth VND6m each were given to students from Hanoi University of Education.
Nguyen Le Huong, a student from Hanoi University of Education said, "This is the third year that I got support from this fund. I really appreciate the effort and hope that the tournament would go on strong to help other students."
In response to the Minister of Planning and Investment, this year, the organisers will spend VND1bn (USD43,000) to support students in the central region who are affected by the recent floods.
The tournament will officially start on November 21 at BRG Kings Island Golf Resort.
