On October 25, Dantri representatives went to Hien Ninh Commune, Quang Ninh District, where the water receded a week ago. Hundreds of local people and the army are still cleaning up the place and help the villagers resettle.

Truong Quang Tri, head of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Hien Ninh Commune, said 2,000 houses were submerged deep underwater, many belongings were swept away and the schools are also damaged in the flood.

Dantri representatives transferred VND1m (USD43) each to 100 people in Hien Ninh Commune.

Le Thi Dung from Tay Co Hien Village said, "I'm old and have illnesses. Luckily, when the flood arrived, I got help from the communal authorities or else I might die. I'm so glad to receive this support from the readers across the country."

On the same day, Dantri representatives visited Le Thuy District, the hardest-hit district in Quang Binh. Le Vinh The, party secretary of Le Thuy District said tens of thousands of houses were submerged, of which about 2,000 houses were under over three metres of water. Many people have lost everything.

In Lien Thuy Commune, Dantri representatives also transferred VND1m to 100 households each there to help them rebuild their lives.

Hoang Van Hung from Dong Thanh Commune said, "My house was submerged underwater for over a week. All of my rice has gone bad. My livestock was swept away along with the belongings. With this support, we can start buying an electric rice cooker and a gas cooker."

Pham Van Linh, chairman of Lien Thuy Commune People's Committee, thanked everyone that has provided support to them.

Dantri will continue to transfer VND1m each to 100 households in Quang Son Commune.

Dantri readers also donated VND20m (USD860) to help Nguyen Thi Tuyet in Tuyen Hoa District. Tuyet's house was swept away in the flood so she now has to put up a tent and struggle to support three small children.
