Readers support Thanh Hoa man recovering from serious injuries

A man in Thanh Hoa Province who was seriously injured in a work accident has recovered thanks to financial support from Dantri/DTiNews readers.

Le Van Son, a 37-year-old man from Phuong Linh Village, Dong Loc Commune fell from a height of four metres while working on a scaffold. He was admitted to Thanh Hoa Hospital and then transferred to Vietnam-Germany Hospital. He is the pillar of a seven-member family. His 68-year-old father is an Agent Orange victim and paralysed. His children are in the 6th grade and 1st grade.

His sister, who suffers from brain atrophy also lives with Son's family and depends on him. Son's wife is much slower than other people and can't take care of him at the hospital.

After Son fell from the scaffold, his mother sold all of the harvest rice and borrowed VND15m. Son's landlord donated VND25m to him. However, the money was not enough for his treatment.

On November 30, Dantri representative transferred VND82,935,900 (USD3,500) from readers to Son's family to help them cope with this particularly hard time.

Nguyen Thi Phong, Son's mother, said when Son woke up and called out for her, she had cried immediately. Son was in a coma for a whole month. After waking up, he was treated for necrosis on his back. "He was so lucky to be able to recover so far. We are very grateful for everyone's help," she said.

Son now can sit up and talk to other people. However, the left side of his body is still paralysed. Son will be transferred to a smaller hospital for rehabilitation.
