Khoa and his mother

Their house, which was built under the support of some relatives and donors, has deteriorated with nothing valuable.

Khoa’s father died when he was not born yet and his sister Nguyen Thi Hoai was just two years old. Since then, his mother, Duong Thi Huong has had to be the family breadwinner.

Due to the family’s financial difficulties, Khoa’s sister had to leave school when she was in Grade 7 to work for a restaurant.

Khoa tried to study and in 2018, he passed an exam into a local vocational training college.

The family has faced more hardships since Khoa’s mother contracted more diseases. To support the family, Khoa has to work as a shipper while studying.

Nothing is valuable in their house

Over the past three months, his mother’s condition has worsened and she has often fainted.

With the assistance of relatives and neighbours, Huong could afford the hospital fees for several months; but she was then had to be taken back home for failing to pay the hospital fees.

Khoa’s sister is serving as a hired labourer in Danang City, but, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, her work is facing difficulties. Meanwhile, Khoa can earn only VND1 million (USD43.47) per month as a delivery man

To date, the family has incurred a debt of more than VND100 million.
