Trinh Thi Minh Anh and Trinh Thi Minh Nguyet's mother died in 2012 when Anh was only six years old and Nguyet was four years old. Then in 2020, their father died because of throat cancer. Since then, Anh and Nguyet live with their grandparents. Their relatives are too poor to help them and both of the sisters might have to drop out.
After their story was published, many people have called and offered help. Dantri readers also donated to the children over VND82m (USD3,500) on December 19, 2020.
Nguyen Van Bang, representative of SHB said, "We want to collaborate with Dantri to help the sisters over these difficulties and continue studying."
Le Doan Dan, Anh and Nguyet's grandfather, thanked the readers and SHB for helping them.
"I used some of the money to buy school supplies for them and deposit the rest for their studying in the future. We’re all old and weak and our concern is our grandchildren," he said.
