Dantri/DTiNews has opened new classrooms and a staff rooms in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.

Nguyen Xuan Toan, deputy editor-in-chief of Dantri speaks at the opening ceremony on January 16.

The representatives of Dantri Online Newspaper and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) arrived at Lung Kim School Site under Na Kieng Nursery School in Quang Lam Commune to attend the opening ceremony on January 16. In order to reach the school site, visitors had to change from cars to motorbikes and then walked through the streams for hours. The rough terrain there had made it difficult to transfer construction materials so the construction was only completed after two years.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Xuan Toan, deputy editor-in-chief of Dantri, said, "I admire the children and teachers' daily effort to go to school. Dantri and Petrovietnam have worked together to complete a new classroom for the children this spring. I want to thank every unit and local authorities that created favourable conditions for us to complete this project."

Nguyen Ngoc Hoan from Petrovietnam speaks at the event.

Dantri has supported the construction of 40 classrooms across Vietnam. The most recent classrooms were built in Kon Tum and Nghe An provinces. Dantri has also helped to build 18 bridges to help disadvantaged people.

"This is the first collaboration between Dantri and Petrovietnam," Toan said. "I hope we'll get more opportunities to work together to bring more classrooms and bridges to people in need."

Nguyen Ngoc Hoan from Petrovietnam said, "The wish of the employees at Petrovietnam to help build classrooms and staff rooms at Lung Kim School Site has been fulfilled today. We are honoured to be able to help lives in remote areas and contribute to the country's development. Today, we also prepared some small gifts which are clothes and blankets to bring some warmth in the cold."

Teacher Luc Thi Ly said she felt happy when the construction was completed. "I felt moved when I saw the new classroom," she said.

Sam Ngoc Chiem, vice chairman of Quang Lam Commune People's Committee, also expressed happiness. According to him, all of the residents in Quang Lam are H'Mong ethnic group. They are all poor households and the new classroom is a huge upgrade.

"Teachers and children now can study in a better environment," he said.
