Father plans to sell kidney to save ill daughter
A family in Hanoi are calling for financial support to help save their daughter who is struggling with encephalitis.
Bui Van Hue, Phuong's father, said the family are farmers. When Phuong was ill, they borrowed everywhere to raise VND10m (USD435) and the money had ran out.
"Doctors said she can be saved but she needs to stay in intensive care," he said. "For the past two months, I can only pray for a miracle for her be well and go home."
Dr Vuong Cong Toan said Phuong was admitted to the hospital on December 9. After she was diagnosed with encephalitis, she was transferred to the intensive care unit. Her condition has worsened with more seizures and longer coma hours.
"We'll have to give her blood dialysis. Her treatment will cost VND200m (USD8,600) to VND300m more," he said. "She can be saved and return to her normal life. We really hope people will help her family."
