Dang Thi Mai Huong, chairwoman of Sao Sang Company and representative of Nguyen Gia Thao Charity Fund has transferred VND600m (USD26,000) to Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper to help build 10 flood-resilient houses for people in Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province.

Editor-in-chief of Dantri, Pham Tuan Anh and the director of Vietnam Study Promotion Fund, Pham Huy Hoan receive the donation from Dang Thi Mai Huong, chairwoman of Sao Sang Company and representative of Nguyen Gia Thao Charity Fund (R to L) on April 22.

This was part of a collaborative campaign to help build 100 houses for low-income people in Le Thuy held by the United Nations Development Programme, Vietnam Study Promotion Fund and Dantri Newspaper. Editor-in-chief of Dantri, Pham Tuan Anh and the director of Vietnam Study Promotion Fund, Pham Huy Hoan, received the donation on April 22.

Editor-in-chief of Dantri, Pham Tuan Anh, thanked the donors and said that three months after launching the campaign, Dantri readers donated over VND1.1bn and non-governmental organisation World Share from South Korea donated 39 houses to people in the central region.

"It's a joy to receive donations from the kind hearts from Nguyen Gia Thao Charity Fund. The construction of 100 flood-resilient houses in Le Thuy will be started in May," he said.

Nguyen Gia Thao Charity Fund was named after Nguyen Gia Thao, a famous foot-wear businessman in Hai Phong and Huong's father-in-law. Thao had helped many people.

Huong also visited Quang Binh Province during a charity trip in late 2020 after the province was ravaged by floods and landslides. She said she had known about Dantri's charity programme and praised its effectiveness and transparency. She then expressed her desire to work with Dantri to help people in the central region and in coastal areas benefit from better housing to mitigate the effects of flooding.

"We'll stand by Dantri in developing more charity activities," she said.
