Bridges built for disadvantaged people

The Tu Tam Charity Group, Central Tien Phong Plastic Company and Dinh Vang Group have built seven bridges in the Mekong Delta Region as part of the VND2,740,800,000 (USD119,000) Love Connection Charity Programme.

  

The groundbreaking ceremony of the 74th bridge of the programme


Nguyen Kim Thuy, one of the founders of Tu Tam Charity Group, said the ground-breaking ceremony for the bridge in Ca Co Hamlet, Long An Province was held on April 10. This is the 74th bridge in the Love Connection Programme. It is 68 metres long and 3.3 meres wide. The total cost is VND1.08bn (USD47,000) in which Central Tien Phong Plastic Company and Tu Tam Charity Group donated VND680m, VND100m was from Nhip Cau Vui Group from Bien Hoa City and VND300m was from the local authorities.

On the same day, the construction of a bridge with investment of VND200m (USD8,700) in An Hoa Commune, An Giang Province was also started. The group also held ground-breaking ceremonies for three other bridges in An Giang worth VND679m afterwards.

On April 11, the programme’s 70nd bridge built in Vinh Loc Hamlet, Can Tho City was opened for traffic. The bridge is 30m long, 4m wide and costs VND412,400,000 (USD18,000).

  

40 gifts were given to disadvantaged people in the area.


After the opening ceremony, the representatives of Central Tien Phong Plastic Company, Tu Tam Charity Group and Dinh Vang Group continued leaving for Hamlet 5 in Can Tho City to open the 69th bridge which cost VND369,300,000 (USD16,000). The 69th bridge connects two communes in two different districts, improving transport links in the area.

They also gave 40 gifts worth VND500,000 (USD22) each to the local people. 20 gifts were given to disadvantaged families and 20 gifts were given to poor and hard-working children.
