A paralysed boy's dream
  • | dtinews.vn | January 08, 2010 04:29 PM

Le Thanh Thinh was paralysed after an accident in which scaffolding collapsed.

He has been paralysed for 3 years now. The tragedy occurred when he was 17. He was a construction worker and was knocked to the ground when scaffolding suddenly collapsed. Thinh was paralysed from that moment.

Not only was his spine broken but his urinal organ is out of order as well. His parents were forced to sell almost everything they owned but still could not afford to pay his treatment expenditure at the hospital. They had no choice but to take him home and try to care for him themselves.

Thinh is often forced to lie face down

The family is unable to pay the debts which have accumulated from the bank and neighbours to treat Thinh. Their debts are only increasing now.

Than has been bedridden for nearly 3 years. While his parents and sister are out working hard, he can only stay in bed and listen to the sound of ducks.

His mother places a water bottle and a medical oil bottle within his reach, but he is unable to touch his lower body parts to drive away the flies that swarm around his ulcers.

Being bedridden for 3 years has caused Thinh to develop ulcers over his body

Fortunately, with the help of the Red Cross Association of Thu Thua district, Long An, he was taken to Cho Ray Hospital last July to help treat his ulcers. After that, he was treated in Thu Thua Hospital. His skin still has not fully recovered since being discharged. Thinh believes that if he weren't paralysed, he would feel intense burning and itching from the ulcers.

Meanwhile, some of his friends are going to school, some are working and some have gotten married. He wants to be admitted to a physical therapy centre. He can work with his hands and dreams to become an organ player one day, earning a living for himself.

Unfortunately, he has no money to learn and his parents are shouldering the burden of debt that has fallen on them since Thinh's accident.
