Nghe An couple in need of help for ailing son
A couple in Nghe An Province are calling for financial support for their son's treatment.
Thanh had to drop out of school since 9th grade and went to HCM City to find work to help out. But after two months, Thanh felt really tired and returned to his hometown.
"I couldn't believe it when he was diagnosed. His condition didn't get any better even though we had brought him to many hospitals from HCM City to Hanoi. We’re still trying to borrow money to buy medicine for him," Sau said. "Sometimes, he was so much pain that he begged me to bring him to the hospital but I'm helpless."
They are uncontracted workers with little income and all of their valuable belongings have already been sold. For the past two months, the family couldn't bring him to the hospital for plasma and red blood cells transfusion. Doctors said if Thanh does not have a bone marrow transplant soon then his chance to survive will diminish. However, the family can't afford the treatment that costs nearly VND1bn (USD43,300). Sau has put their house up for sale.
According to Nguyen Ho Son, chairman of Lang Thanh Commune People's Committee, Sau's family is the poorest case in the area and he hopes that they will get help to overcome difficulties.

Dinh Thi Sau and her husband have six children together. Their daughter had Japanese encephalitis and died in February 2020 after 19 years of suffering.
