Little girl needs help to overcome encephalitis
A mother in Hoa Binh Province is in need of financial support to save her 13-month-old daughter from encephalitis.
Thong said. "She was healthy and I just felt happy whenever I looked at her. She was learning how to walk when she had a high fever."
Ha was transferred to Mai Son Hospital, Hoa Binh General Hospital and then to the National Children's Hospital where she was diagnosed with encephalitis. Ha was paralysed and needs long-term treatment. However, the family have already run out of money.
Thong borrowed VND2m (USD86) from neighbours to go to the hospital. As of now, the family already borrowed VND50m from everyone they can. Because of Covid-19, Ha's husband became unemployed so they can only depend on charity meals to get by.
Dr Vu Thi Vui said Ha's condition had improved. However, even with health insurance, she still needs different medicines and particular food.
"But the family are exhausted. They can hardly afford her nappies and formula milk. I hope they will get help," Vui said.
