Charity provides free cleft lip operations for disadvantaged people
Hanoi-based Vietnam-Cuba Hospital has coordinated with Operation Smile Vietnam to provide free cleft lip operations for over 120 disadvantaged people in the northern region.
"104 of them are children under 15 years old while the programme also gives chances to many adult patients," the doctor said.
This is the first activity held after the two-year Covid-19 pandemic. The programme saw the participation of over 70 doctors, nurses, and volunteers from the Vietnam-Cuba Hospital and Operation Smile Vietnam.
The programme will run until the end of June.
Operation Smile has provided more than 62,000 free screenings and medical treatments to Vietnamese children and families since 1989.

Doctor Nguyen Dinh Phuc, director of Vietnam-Cuba Hospital, said that many of the people came from families living in remote northern mountainous areas.
