The accident occurred to Le Thanh Tan, 30, from Phung Hiep District’s Thanh Hoa Commune early this year. While filling gas into a cylinder to be sold, the cylinder suddenly exploded, causing his house to catch fire.
After taking his mother out of the house, he tried to put out the fire. Then he was injured and was taken to hospital. Doctors diagnosed that up to 70 percent of his body had been burnt.

Atter the three-month stay at hospital with included eight operations, Tan was allowed to leave hospital.
On his return home, he was shocked to discover that his mother had died when he was staying at the hospital.
At present, most of his body has been distorted and the burns have swollen and bled.
Pham Thanh Truc, Tan’s wife, said she had to sell the couple’s house for just VND100 million (USD4,310) to cover his treatment. The couple and their two children are now temporarily staying with Truc’s parents.
Truc added that her husband would have to experience several operations, but she does not know where to borrow money for these.
Phan Van Thuong, head of Village 3, from Thanh Hoa Commune, said that Tan’s family was in difficulty. He hoped that donors could support him.
