Sung and his son besides their house which is built from bamboos and coconut leaves.

Sung said that at the age of 11, he faced high fevers and became paralysed. Following the intensive treatment, he saw improvement but remained badger-legged.

Because of the family’s financial difficulties, he had to leave school when being in Grade 9 to help his parents with the farming work.

In 2014, he got married to a local woman and then had two sons.

After some conflicts, Sung’s wife asked him to divorce in 2020 but he did not agree. But she then left him a short time afterwards without saying a word, taking their eldest son with her.

Due to his bad health, Sung can only stay at home to breed goats and poultry. He borrowed money from the commune’s fund to support the poor to buy five goats.

Sung’s biggest dream is to build a new house and pay for his son’s studies.

Huynh Huu Loc, chairman of An My Commune’s Red Cross, said that Sung’s family is among the poorest in the locality. He hoped that donors could assist him.
