Vietnam\'s futsal (indoor football) team will play against Malaysia in the opener in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship qualifiers.

Vietnamese players are set to compete in the Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers in October.

Vietnam drew group B along with Australia, Malaysia and Cambodia; while Group A has Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Myanmar.

Vietnam will take on Cambodia in the second match and meet Australia in the final group game from November 26 to December 1.

Only three top teams will qualify for the tournament to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Besides Thailand, one of strongest teams in Asia and almost a certainty to win a ticket for UAE, the second spot is likely to be taken by Australia.

The third place will be contested between Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Vietnam qualified for the 2010 AFC Futsal Championship but was stopped at the group stage despite an impressive victory 7-3 over South Korea in the opening match.

The biennial tournament will have 16 countries participating, including four direct entrants – defending champions Iran, runners-up Uzbekistan and third-placed Japan – and hosts UAE.
