Vietnam may have a reputation for speedy daredevil motorbike racing on public streets, but there’s one occasion where the need for speed will be highly appreciated. The country will hold its first joint professional and amateur motorbike racing competition in Binh Duong on October 29-30

The Vietnam Motor Club Prix 2011 will be organised at the Song Than Industrial Park, Di An Town.

The event is expected to attract 16 professional racers and 32 amateurs from Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho Dong Nai and other localities. The organising board is still receiving applications from amateur racers nationwide.

The prize will allow amateur racers to compete in the 125cc category using the Notus SI125R.

Tran Minh Quy from the Vietnam Bicycle and Motorbike Association said this will be the biggest-ever motorcycle racing event yet held in Vietnam, adding that it could represent the beginnings of a new sport.

The Vietnam Motor Club Prix will also feature a display of heavyweight motorbikes including the Yamaha R1, Honda CBR1000R 2012, Honda DN 01, Suzuki GSX R600 2011 and Ducati 848 Evo 2011.
