The artists will give a hip-hop performance titled “Faces” by chorographers Raphael Hillebrand and Sébastien Ramirez from Germany and France. The show was last year shown in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, France, Denmark and Germany.

During the performance, all artists will wear masks to send a message: “Are we all wearing masks to cover up our face in today’s society?” against the background music played on Vietnamese traditional music instruments like t’rung, monochord and zither.

“We were well-received when we performed “Faces” in Europe,” Pham Khanh Linh, representative of the troupe shared. “Audiences came to the show and said it is unique since it combines modern Western hip hop with Vietnamese traditional music.”

“For this festival, I think it will be a chance not only to compete but also to promote new Vietnamese culture features to Asia,” she added

The International Dance Festival in Jakarta will also gather artists from other regional countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Japan.
