Vietnamese photographer An Le has won the New Exposure fashion photography contest, held jointly by Vogue magazine, RED Digital Cinema and Bottega Veneta in New York.

Le, who graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the US, was given first prize for his photo collection entitled The Sea.

The series illustrates the complications and disorder that arise in an old man’s family after he finds an enormous egg on the beach that hatches into a young girl.

The girl’s appearance upsets his elderly wife, who begins to feel disappointed and jealous. In the end, the old man takes the girl back to the sea on a stormy day.

Le said he likes to place his subjects together and highlight their differences and contrasts, which also seems to attract great attention from viewers.

The top prize won by Le includes US$10,000, an EPIC-X package, a one-year mentorship with the photo agency Management Artists, and the opportunity to shoot an exclusive special project for Bottega Venetta. His portfolio will also be featured in New York City.
