Speaking with DTiNews, an official from the department Nguyen Thanh Nhan said, Khanh Ly would sing at four events promoted by the Dong Dao Entertainment Ltd. Company in Hanoi, Danang and HCM City.

"The department has allowed Bang Kieu and Khanh Ly’s performance in Vietnam from now to the end of December this year. The events they perform in, and the songs they sing will be closely supervised,” he added.

According to the official, after December, if they want to perform in Vietnam more, organisers will have to seek approval from authorities.

This will be the first opportunity for Khanh Ly to sing in Vietnam for than 30 years. This occasion also marks 50th year since when she started to be a singer.

According to the organiser, the first gig will be held in November with the participation of singers like Elvis Phuong, Tuan Ngoc and Ha Anh Tuan.

Singer Bang Kieu will participate in a show in Hanoi in October along his old friend, Singer My Linh.

Singer Khanh Ly, 67, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Le Mai, is strongly associated with the songs composed by musician and composer Trinh Cong Son. After coming to the US to live with her family in 1975, Khanh Ly participated in some anti-Vietnamese government shows and was banned from performance in Vietnam.

Bang Kieu, 39, whose real name is Nguyen Bang Kieu, left Vietnam for the US in 2004. He was banned from performance in Vietnam for remarks about Vietnamese human rights.
