Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan attended Le Tich Dien or the Ceremonial Ploughing Festival hosted by the Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee on February 16.
The Tich Dien-Doi Son Festival is a traditional annual farming celebration—restored by the Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee—to pray for good weather and a bumper harvest.

The first Vietnamese Le Tich Dien was held in 987 AD during the reign of King Le Dai Hanh in the then capital Hoa Lu. The king himself acted as master of ceremonies and personally ploughed the field.

Le Tich Dien was organised throughout the Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties, promoting agricultural production with great success.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Ha Nam provincial Party Committee Secretary Tran Xuan Loc praised Le Tich Dien as a cultural highlight of the New Year’s first few days. He said it helps younger generations deepen their understandings of national customs and show their love for the labour that fuels national development.
