The 8th European food festival will open at the Hanoi-based National Library of Vietnam on May 18.

The festival, organised by EuroCham, will mark the peak of the month-long Europe Days celebrations.

Dishes include Paella, Beef Zurichoise with Spatzle, Italian Lasagna, Spaghetti Bolognese and assorted baguettes and pizzas.

Drinks include Pilsner Urquell Beer, Hoa Vien and Heineken beer, along with a variety of wines and cognac.

DJ Jeremix, the AJC Stars, Hijinks and The Guest will perform at the festival which will also include outdoor children’s activities and lucky draws.

Jean-Jacques Bouflet, Minister Counsellor cum Head of Trade and Economic Section at the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, said European businesses would highlight several of the region best products, and showcase their point of origin and traditional manufacturing methods.

While Vietnam has just 30 geographically defined products, European countries have hundreds of such products, he said.

“We’re trying to reach a mutual recognition to facilitate the circulation of Vietnamese GI products in the Europe and European GI products in Vietnam. The EU has recognised the first Vietnamese GI product, Phu Quoc sausage,” he added.
