A national hip hop contest will be held in the capital this weekend, bringing together more than 1,700 dancers from throughout the country, according to organisers.
The first contest season was the brainchild of Big Toe Crew, the oldest and leading hip hop dance group in Vietnam. This year, it is being organised by the Vietnamese Recreational and Electronic Sport Association.
The third Floor Killer contest will take place at the Savico Megamall in Hanoi's Long Bien District on Saturday and Sunday.

Six competing categories are available for the teams to choose: breaking,

popping, hiphop, locking, waacking and house. The breaking category will be contested by the most teams (53, with two dancers each team). The newly-introduced house category will be entered by eight individual dancers.

Both amateur and professional dancers of all ages and nationalities are welcome.

The organisers will give prizes in each category, with every first team prize worth VND million (US$200) and every individual first prize worth VND million ($100).

The first contest season was the brainchild of Big Toe Crew, the oldest and leading hip hop dance group in Vietnam. This year, it is being organised by the Vietnamese Recreational and Electronic Sport Association.

Nguyen Viet Thanh, the leader of Big Toe Crew and a member of the association, said his company wanted to turn Floor Killer into a professional playground for the youth and art enthusiasts and to bring hip hop closer to the public.
