Australian police say a Vietnamese man was killed when a tourist bus crashed in south-west Victoria on Sunday afternoon.

The bus rolled over near Colac in south-west Victoria about 2:15pm. (7pm TV News VIC)

The bus was carrying 27 passengers when it rolled onto its side about 2:15pm (AEST) near Colac.

Two passengers have been flown to a Melbourne hospital, while another five people suffering minor injuries have been taken to another hospital nearby.

Acting Superintendent Don Downes says all of the passengers were from Vietnam.

"The bus has rolled over on this side road from the Princes Highway," he said.

"Tragically we\'ve lost one person, one male, a middle-aged male person\'s deceased as a result of the accident."

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen says the group had been touring the area today.

"As bad as it was, and of course with one person deceased that\'s bad enough, but it could have been a lot worse with that number of people on the bus," he said.

"And of course all of the resources of all the emergency services were stretched, but they all coped well, but it could have been a lot worse.

"There doesn\'t appear to be any other vehicles involved and the bus is on its side. So how it\'s happened, they\'re trying to piece that together at the moment."
