Ngoc Duyen wins South Korean-hosted pageant

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Duyen, 23, has become the first Vietnamese to bring home the crown from an international beauty pageant after winning Miss Global Beauty Queen 2016 in Seoul on October 24.

Elisabeta-Eliza Ancau from Romania was runner-up followed by Elize Joanne de Jong from the Netherlands, Isabele Pandini from Brazil and Jessica Daniela Cozier Rosillo from Venezuela.

Duyen was born in 1993, Vung Tau Province. She is 1.74 metres tall and had good achievements at several local beauty pageants such as winning bronze prize at Vietnam Supermodel 2015. She is highly regarded for her confidence and elegant figure.

Duyen's winning Miss Global Beauty is a huge motivation for Vietnamese contestants at other beauty pageants including Pham Phuong Linh who is competing at Miss International 2016 or Nguyen Thi Le Nam Em at Miss Earth 2016.

Duyen now has the highest achievement among Vietnamese representatives at beauty pageants.

Miss Global Beauty Queen is an annual beauty pageant started in 2005. Over 50 beauties from the world competed for the crown this year. Last year winner is Thai beauty queen Veteka Pesuk, Vietnamese model Lam Thuy Anh finished fourth.
