Famous Italian flautist to perform in Hanoi

Famous Italian flautist Andrea Griminelli will come back Vietnam for a concert at the Hanoi Opera House on September 20.

This is the second time that Griminelli has performed in Vietnam since his first visit in 2008.

He began playing flute at 10 and studied under famous flautists including Jean-Pierre Rampal and Sir James Galway. He is highly appreciated by professionals for his expressive and highly skill.

He was honored to perform with reputed singer Luciano Pavarotti in Pavarotti’s now famous concert in New York’s Madison Square Garden at the age of 25. He then had a long-standing collaboration with the great tenor in performances in London’s Hyde Park, New York’s Central Park, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Red Square in Moscow.

Griminelli has travelled for many performances in Europe, Japan, South America and United States throughout his career. His Asian tour 2010 included concerts in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore.

The flautist will perform with Singaporean pianist Lim Yan in the performance.

The music show is one of the three concerts in the “Italian Music Month” program in September and October which is held by the Art Performance and Organizing Center and the Italian Embassy to celebrate the capital’s millennium birthday.

The music event was opened with the first performance with participation of multi-talented Italian pianist and composer Cesare Picco on September 11.

The musician performed works composed by himself such as My Room, Darakoum, Clock, The First Star, October and a special homage to Bach, A Long Wait.

He was also onstage with Vietnamese musician Tri Minh in a 20-minute work entitled “Hanoi Improvisation”.

The last concert will feature the talented pianist Gabriele Carcano on October 15. He made a successful performance in Vietnam last November.
