International Watercolor Biennale set for Hanoi

More than 200 watercolor paintings by 216 artists from 45 different countries will be on display at the International Watercolor Biennale in Hanoi from October 23 to November 15.



More than 200 watercolors on display from October 23 to November 15 at Hanoi Museum.

Co-organized by the International Watercolor Society in Vietnam and the Hanoi Museum, the exhibition aims to give the public an idea of watercolorist’s views of the world in general and of Vietnam in particular.

Work by famous artists from Japan, the UK, South Korea, India, Spain, Finland, Uruguay, and China, including Alvaro Castagnet (Uruguay), Liu Yi (China), and Amit Kapoor (India), will be on display, alongside those from a number of Vietnamese artists.

On October 23 and 27 there will be a painting performance by the President of the International Watercolor Society, Turkish-Canadian artist Atanur Dogan, and other international as well as local artists, including Alvaro Castagnet, Liu Yi, Amit Kapoor, Mai Nguyen, Bui Duy Khanh, Yuko Nagayama, Helidon Haliti, Myint Naing, Lafe, Zeze Lai, Besnik Xhemali, Binh Chu, Chow Chin Chuan, Thu Huong Nguyen, Jansen Chow, Agus Budyanto, Subin Muang Chan, Liu Xi De, Ho Hung, Doan Van Toi, Thuy Duong, Hoang Vo, Nguyen Thuy Anh, Truong Van Ngoc, Toan Nguyen, Megha Kapoor, Maneerat Skirampa, Win Xin Lin, and Chiayee Lam.

On October 25 on Cat Ba Island in northern Hai Phong city, nearly 100 artists from the exhibition will gather together to make a 40-meter painting; the longest watercolor in Vietnam.

The exhibition is being held at the Hanoi Museum, 2 Pham Hung, My Dinh Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi. Entry is free.
