Man live streams film from cinema

A young man in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau was questioned by police after live streaming a new movie on Facebook from the cinema.

The 19-year old man was taken to the local police.

The Vietnamese film The Tailor (Co Ba Sai Gon) directed by Tran Buu Loc and Kay Nguyen was first screen on November 10. However, just three days later the entire film was available to tens of thousands of viewers.

The film producer, actress Ngo Thanh Van commented on the film post “Please don’t do this, if not you won’t have any Vietnamese films."

At the police station, the man admitted that he posted live stream the film but then was detected by the theatre staff. After that, he removed the post.

Many Vietnamese films have faced the same problem after being screened.

Under the Vietnamese Criminal Code, the illegal copy of recording and images will be fined from VND15 million (USD688) and VND35 million (USD1,590).

In case, the violation causes economic losses for the owners, violators will be fined VND1 billion (USD45,454) or sentenced to three years in prison.
