Hundreds of actors have registered for the casting of a film by Vietnamese Director Luong Dinh Dung, including from abroad.

According to Director Luong Dinh Dung, he has received nearly 500 people turned up for casting for the 578 action film over the past month, including those from France, the UK, South Korean, Japan and China.

Dung said that 100 people who have been selected were taken to the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh’s Mai Chau District for the casting. Lots of them are sports athletes and martial arts trainers.

Those chosen will be trained by martial arts instructors from Hollywood and South Korea.

578 is the story of a truck driver trying to find the man responsible for an attack on his daughter and a confrontation with a criminal gang. The film has a budget of VND60 billion (USD2.6m) would need nearly 40 container trucks, a helicopter, US and South Korean experts.

He revealed that the number 578 had important meaning in the story. It is also easy to impress and remember. He hoped to make a humanitarian tale and raise public awareness about child sexual abuse.

The film casting in HCM City is scheduled to take place early next month.

Luong Dinh Dung is the director of the film Father and Son which won Best Feature Film award at Canadian Diversity Film Festival.
