Hanoians donate items to museum

Many families in Hanoi were honoured for donating many valuable objects to Hanoi Museum at a reception held on September 12.

Since early 2018, Hanoi Museum has called for donations and received nearly 1,000 items. Most of them are cultural and religious items are from the early years of the 20th century, during the American War and the post-war subsidised economy period. Items used at old craft villages in Hanoi were also collected for display.

   

A medicine cutting tool



According to the museum, the items donated this year are valuable and further show the development of Hanoi in the past centuries as well as the love and passion of the donors to the capital. The collected items will be arranged and put on display regularly at the museum from 2019.

Many families were honoured at the ceremony, one of the most notable cases is the family of Nguyen Van Tiem in Van Tu Commune, Thuong Tin District, donated 140 items used in Hau Dong ritual and can be displayed at the section for the mother goddess religion.

Several items tell a story of a family practises traditional medicines on Lan Ong Street. Duong Thi Kim Oanh donated nine items often used in her family, such as a medicine box or books on herbal medicines.

The family of Nguyen Kim Bang donated 24 items including a scale and the medicine cutting tools.
