English National Ballet to perform in Vietnam

The world-renowned troupe, English National Ballet, is headed to Vietnam for two performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in September.

They will perform at the Hanoi Opera House on September 14, and the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on September 16.

One of the features will be Vue de l’Autre, accompanied by the choreography of Vietnamese dancer Le Ngoc Van.

Van was born in Hanoi and joined English National Ballet in 2003. Other highlights will include performances of Trois Gnossiennes, excerpts from Suite en Blanc and the Black Swan Pas de Deux.

During their visit to Vietnam, English National Ballet will also hold a master class, in Hanoi on September 13, for the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre as well as the Vietnam College of Dance. They will also give a second class in Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 for the HCM City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra, and HCM City College of Dance.

The visit will be concluded with a talk, to be broadcast on VTV3.

Over the past 60 years the English National Ballet have included the participation of extremely well-known artists, such as Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, Wayne Sleep, Carlos Acosta, Roberto Bolle, Tamara Rojo - Thomas Edur, and Agnes Oaks.

The trip, arranged by British Council Vietnam and sponsored by HSBC, will be the first visit of the troupe to Vietnam.
