The 5th Luala Concert, a free outdoor music festival, will return this December with the participation of famous Vietnamese and South Korean singers.

Luala Concert has gradually become one of the most outstanding cultural events in Hanoi. If the spring-summer concerts are preserved for new and experimental pieces then fall-winter concerts are for classical music.

This year the Luala Concert Fall-Winter 2013 will be held in the afternoons on Saturdays and Sundays, from December 1 to 22 on Ly Thai To Street. Saturdays feature solo, dues and quartet compositions for various instruments, while Sunday performances are reserved for orchestral pieces and singers.

An organiser said they have kept thinking how to make even old music fresh, so audiences will be able to enjoy performances by singer-conductor Park Sung Min and a choir consisting of 25 South Korean singers living in Vietnam.

The artists participating in the concert include singer Pham Thu Ha, Quang Dung, who is well-known for his renditions of Trinh Cong Son songs, and Tung Duong, who is famous for his exploration in more alternative styles. They will try their hands at classical music.

Tung Duong

"I'm thrilled to experience an outdoor concert. An artist performing will give it all they have no matter if it's indoors on the street." Tung Duong said.

Meanwhile, pianist Trang Trinh promised to bring a French composition to introduce piano work to the children. According to violinist Xuan Huy, the artists have been working hard on several new pieces, such as Rondo Capriccioso (Saint-Saëns), Gipsy Airs (Pablo de Sarasate) and Voices Of Spring (Johann Strauss).
