Ancient jewellery on display in Hue

More than 100 pieces of ancient jewellery have gone on show at Hue's Royal Antiquities Museum, offering a window on Vietnam history.

The exhibition, "Vietnamese Antique Jewellery", opened today (April 28), curated by Hue's Royal Antiquities Museum and Vietnam National Museum of History. It is part of the Hue Traditional Craft Festival in 2015.

Prominent are bracelets, earrings, rings and brooches from the Nguyen Dynasty, which ruled from the 18th to 20th century, made with gold and precious gems.

Also on display are necklaces and earrings from the Bau Tro period, dating back 5,000 years, and the Dong Dau period of 3,500 years ago. Belts, buckles and gloves, from the Dong Son period, are 2,000 to 2,500 years old.

The collection shows the development and creative process of ancient Vietnam.

The exhibition runs from April 28 to June 28 at Hue's Royal Antiquities Museum in Hue City.
