At the press conference to launch the contest, the organisers announced
that the rules for this year’s event are the same as previous editions.
However, in addition to the regular awards, Miss Nhan Ai (kindness)
will be added to promote humanitarian activities for the competition in
engaging with the community.
The organisers will select 40 contestants in the final round. Each of
them will take on a charity project and is responsible for presenting
the significance of the project and directly implementing it. The
activities will be recorded and broadcast on a range of TV channels for
the public.
The bonus for the title of this year's competition was also increased
compared to previous contests, as the Miss Vietnam 2016 winner will be
crowned and presented with VND500 million, while first and second
runners-up will receive VND300 million and VND200 million, respectively.
Sub-prize winners will be awarded VND50 million each.
The organisers also decided to donate VND500 million to the Vietnam
Young Talent Support Fund run by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union
Central Committee.
The preliminary and final rounds will be held in July. The grand finale will take place in HCM City on August 27.
Since its launch in 1988, the Miss Vietnam Pageant has received the
warm support of the public both domestically and internationally. The
cultural event has practical significance in promoting Vietnamese young
women’s role and capacity in building the country in the new period.
It is also a chance to introduce cultural and historical traditions,
tourism potential, and beauty of the country and people to foreign
friends during international integration.
