Vietnam’s first International Tattoo Convention is being held in Hanoi on June 23 and 24 to introduce the art to the public.

Tattoo artists from China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, the Netherlands and Vietnam are participating in the convention to help locals understand more about the art.

Diau An Master, with 35 years of experience in tattooing, is leading the judging panel. The artists can choose to compete in black and white or colour categories. The Queen of Tattoo prize worth VND50m will be awarded to the most impressive tattoo.

Visitors can get new tattoos or meet with the artists in various mini games.

Tran An Tuan, one of the judges, said that the prejudices against people with tattoos were not as severe as in the past. The public had a fairer attitude towards tattoo art and young people were increasingly expressing themselves with safer technology.

The convention is being held at Quan Ngua Stadium in Hanoi.
