Pop singer Son Tung M-TP has been accused of plagiarising Charlie Puth's latest hit, the Heyder Remix of We Don't Talk Anymore.

Doubts have already been cast since Song Tung released his song Chung Ta Khong Thuoc Ve Nhau (We Don't Belong to Each Other) on August 3. In the video clip, Tung became an eccentric scientist whose dream was to create a perfect woman for his own. But at the end, they broke up because of his selfishness.

Both the song and the clip have become polarised with audience. The clip is said to look like South Korean singer G-Dragon's Sober video clip or the Eureka clip of rapper Zico. The music also faces criticism for sounding a lot like Charlie Puth's We Don't Talk Anymore.

Tung became an eccentric scientist in the clip

Even other singers including Bao Thy and Thanh Duy from Vietnam Idol also expressed their surprise about the strong similarities. The case reached high point when DJ Heyder posted on his Facebook page that "This Vietnamese track sounds quite similar to my remix".

Some Son Tung's fans suspected that the page was fake because it only had nearly 8,000 followers. However, Heyder said this was the new page because his verified page had been hacked recently. He pointed out that both his official YouTube and Soundcloud accounts were linked to this Facebook page.

This is not the first time the singer has been accused of plagiarism. He is famous for catchy tunes but seems inseparably linked with it is plagiarism scandals. His song Con Mua Ngang Qua (Passing Rain) is accused of copying South Korean singers Namolla Family's Sarangi Mareul Deutjianha and the song Nang Am Xa Dan (Disappearing Sunlight) sounds just like Monologue by As One.

The biggest case recently is when the song Chac Ai Do Se Ve (Someone May Come Home) accused of copying Because I Miss You by Jung Yong Hwa. Tung received criticism not from fans but also from many musicians. The case also attracted attention from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Performing Arts and Copyright Office of Vietnam. Finally, Tung was forced to change the beat of the song.

Singer Tung Duong then criticised the critics for giving Tung the singer of the year award at annual Music Devotion Awards in April. "Before voting please think, evaluate and scrutinise every detail."

He went on to say that the critics shouldn't mistake anything with having great influence or it would lead to plagiarism, a problem that they hadn't found a solution for. He asked critics to foster true values so that the local awards and art scene wouldn't degenerate.

Son Tung M-TP hasn't commented on the subject. His music producer Triple D denied the accusation and said the MV was his own feelings, not inspired by anything else.
