This is the 19th Toyota Classics held in Vietnam and the 27th “Music that moves lives” in the Asia Pacific region.

“Over the last 18 years Toyota Classics has been held annually to bring world-class classical music closer to music lovers in Vietnam,” said Ms. Doan Thi Yen, TMV Vice President. “We are so happy that the program has become one of the most anticipated musical events of the year.”

Toyota Classics 2016 will feature the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, a famous orchestra from Poland that received the “Polish Grammy” for Best Music Album of the Year in 2015 under the baton of outstanding conductor-violinist Vasko Vassilev.

With the theme “Opera with a Twist” and arranged by Singapore-born pianist and composer Pamela Tan Nicholson, the program promises to bring Vietnamese audiences an emotional and unforgettable experience from classics such as The Story of Turandot, The Story of Butterfly, The Story of Carmen and Drink and Sing, performed with a twist.

Another highlight of Toyota Classics will be a special song called “ASEAN Harmony” sung by a youth choir. The song was especially commissioned for Toyota Classics 2016 and composed by Pamela Tan Nicholson to celebrate the shared vision of the ten member states of ASEAN.

For the first time Toyota Classics 2016 will feature young, talented singer Tung Duong, the winner of the “Morning Star” TV music contest in 2004 and other awards, such as third prize at the Hanoi Music Contest for Young Singers in 1999 and third prize and first prize at the Hanoi Music Contest for Talented Singers in 2001 and 2003, respectively. He promises to perform an impressive and emotional concert for music lovers.

“The success of Toyota Classics in Vietnam over the years has been built on a professional musical performance,” said Mr. Le Ngoc Dinh, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. “It has given music lovers in Vietnam the opportunity to enjoy classics performed by world famous artists and orchestras.”

Toyota Classics 2016 is touring nine ASEAN countries this year: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam from October 22 to November 11.
