CSFF 2016 was held at Shenzhen City from November 25 to 30. The KingBonn Award is the only state-recognised and international short film award in China.

Well-known Chinese directors such as Feng Xiaogang and Peter Chan Ho-Sun and Richard Taylor, the founder, creative director and head of New Zealand film prop and special effects company Weta Workshop, are the judges this year.

Painted Flower was able to compete with 4,131 other indie shorts to qualify for the final rounds. This is a huge achievement for the 28-year-old director. Painted Flower was also selected to be screened at CSFF 2016 with 10 other shorts from CSFF's international partners. This is the first time a Vietnamese short successfully entered the final round and screened at CSFF.

This is the first work of Phan Dinh Dung and Thunder Cloud Studio. The short, which has no dialogue, tells the tale of two little painters Su and Sy in only three minutes.

Painted Flowers have been screened at 8th Lahore International Children’s Film Festival in Pakistan from November 21 to 26 and Spark Animation 2016 Festival in Canada from October 20 to 23.
