Fire breaks out at Kong: Skull Island premiere
>> Kong Skull Island trailer shows off Vietnam's landscape The premiere of the new giant-ape themed blockbuster film Kong: Skull Island in HCM City on Thursday went up in flames, frightening cinemagoers.
The premiere was held at 7 pm at an outdoor stage of Vivo City shopping mall.
The incident occurred just five minutes after the ceremony opening when dancers were performing around a fire on the VND1 billion (USD43,500) stage. The flames spread quickly across the 5-metre statue of Kong himself and destroyed it; however, no injuries were reported.
At first, attendants thought it was part of the premiere night but it turned out to be a fire which five minutes later burnt down the entire stage which seemed to include large amounts of flammable material.
Firefighters were called and eventually extinguished the blaze.
