The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed the Hanoi authorities to construct a 3-dimensional model from the blockbuster film Kong: Skull Island near Hoan Kiem Lake.

Taking advantages of Vietnamese landscapes shot in Kong: Skull Island, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has co-operated with the film distribution firm to organise a range of activities to promote the country’s tourism sector.

The ministry has also asked the Hanoi People’s Committee to establish the 3D model of the film at an outstanding place in the city’s pedestrianised area around Hoan Kiem Lake. The ministry suggested the area of Statue of Soldiers near Ba Kieu Temple as the suitable spot.

According to the ministry, the model would be a good prop for people’s photos. Meanwhile, documents for the tourism promotion of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular would also be provided there. The setup should be finished before April 5.

To Van Dong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the department has totally supported the image of the country through the film. However, the location selection needs to be carefully considered as Hoan Kiem Lake is seen as the symbol of Hanoi so it is seen as sensitive in some ways.

Kong: Skull Island set a new box office record in Vietnam after snagging VND18.2 billion (USD798,200) from the opening day on March 10 and early screenings on March 9 night.
