Kong: Skull Island director vows to promote Vietnamese tourism

Director of the blockbuster film Kong: Skull Island Jordan Vogt-Roberts said he is honoured to be Vietnam’s tourism ambassador and will try his best to help promote Vietnamese tourism.

The director made the statement at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 13 when Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien officially appointed him as the tourism ambassador of Vietnam for the 2017-2020 period.

He said that he had received great support from authorities and people from Quang Binh, Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh where the film was shot last year.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts, 33, is an emerging director in the US and Kong: Skull Island is his third film.  The blockbuster set a new record in box office revenues in Vietnam after snagging VND18.2 billion (USD798,200) from the opening day on March 10 and early screenings on the evening of March 9.
