Police investigate attack on Kong: Skull Island director
Police in HCM City are investigating an attack against director of the Kong: Skull Island movie, Jordan Vogt-Roberts at a local bar.
Initial investigation showed that the American director who is also Vietnam's tourism ambassador was attacked by a group of young men at XOXO in Le Thi Hong Gam Street in District 1 on September 9.
A clip of the attack has also gone viral on several social networks.
An anonymous source told Dan Tri/DTiNews that the director arrived at the bar with some friends early that morning and was suddenly attacked by a group of young men here.
"They hit him on his face and beat his head using a bottle," the source said. "The group also attacked some other guests at the restaurant and left."
Jordan Vogt-Roberts was then rushed to Franco-Vietnamese Hospital.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a team to visit the tourism ambassador at hospital and urged local police to investigate the case.
According to the Ministry, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts returned to Vietnam to attend the International Travel Expo – Ho Chi Minh City on September 7 morning.
On September 7 evening, the tourism ambassador attended the VTV Awards 2017 in Hanoi, the ministry said, adding that they had to cancel his plan to talk with the HCM City Tourism Association on September 11.
Vogt-Roberts was appointed Vietnam’s Tourism Ambassador for the 2017-2020 tenure.
Since taking the post in March, the tourism ambassador has actively participated in various events and projects to promote the country's culture and tourism including calling for scholarships for Vietnamese students from the US and some other countries, organising some charity events, and assisting local communities to develop the tourism industry.
