Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, H'Hen Nie, has just visited orphaned children and elderly people at a pagoda on her first charity trip with Miss World Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza.

H'Hen Nie is from the Ede ethnic minority group in Dak Lak Province. As the winner of Miss Universe Vietnam H'Hen Nie will be Vietnam's representative to enter Miss Universe 2018 in Denmark.

After being crowned on January 6, H'Hen Nie visited Thanh Son Pagoda in Khanh Hoa Province where 47 orphans and 11 elderly people are living. Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza and Miss Universe Organisation President Paula Shugart also participated in the trip.

The beauty queens including the winner and two runners-up of Miss Universe Vietnam gave cash, rice, and toys to the children and elderly people.

"I'm glad to be able to visit and play with the children. Their innocence warms my heart. I feel like I need to travel more to bring love to everyone. It's my duty that I received along with the crown," H'Hen Nie said.

Even with a busy schedule, Dayana Mendoza still spent time with the children at the pagoda. She had been set to visit Nha Trang City before returning to New York on January 9.
