A collection of 74 watercolour paintings by Vietnamese and foreign artists is being shown at the HCM City Watercolour Painting exhibition at HCM City’s Fine Arts Association.

Reflecting the people: Sáng Sớm Chợ Đồng Văn (Morning at Đồng Văn Market), a painting by Trương Lộ of HCM City, is on display at the HCM City Watercolour Painting exhibition at the city’s Fine Arts Association

The event showcases 63 works by 46 professional and amateur artists from across the country, featuring different topics about Vietnam’s landscapes, women, people’s lives, and still life.

Of these, there are 30 paintings, created by 15 members of the Sài Gòn Watercolour Club during a field trip to the northwestern province of Hà Giang, which was organised by the association in early April.

They include Phố Cổ Đồng Văn (Đồng Văn Ancient Town) by Ca Lê Dũng, Sáng Sớm Chợ Đồng Văn (Morning at Đồng Văn Market) by Trương Lộ and Thôn Tả Phìn (Tả Phìn Village).

Landscapes: Huế’s Landscape, a painting by Malaysian artist Chow Chin Chuan, is on display at the HCM City Watercolour Painting exhibition

The exhibition is also displaying 11 paintings by artists from Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan and Turkey. The works reflect Vietnamese landscapes such as Huế and Hạ Long Bay.

Painter Siu Quý, standing vice chairman of the Fine Arts Association, said: “The paintings at the exhibition feature various sides of Vietnam from the landscape to the people and their lives.”

“They also reflect the professional skills of Vietnamese artists,” he said.

The exhibition will close on May 24. The association is located at 218A Pasteur Street in District 3.
